The most important tradition at any time of the year is just getting together and enjoying the company of your loved ones. Of course, eating is always a big part of that. For me, this has been catching up with my sister Mimi over a platter of Gamberoni Prawns again and again. She introduced them to me for my 24th birthday and I love them so much, I can’t imagine enjoying them with anyone but her.

The dish originates from Southern Italy and is combination of tiger prawns in garlic butter chili sauce, served with a choice of rice, mashed potato, chips or vegetables.

Where to get them

Hostaria – an Italian restaurant that has been open since 1988. Their menu offers a selection of freshly made pasta, pizza, meats and fish. They also have vegan and gluten free options.

  1. Praws are similar to what we call Janga in Jamaica 🇯🇲. This post took me back to my childhood days where me and my friends would go to river to catch these shrimp-like creatures. The tiger prawns in garlic butter sauce looks delicious 😋
